Capitol can refer to, among other things:

• A building that houses the administration or legislature of a government. The word derives from the Capitoline Hill (Capitolinus Mons) in Rome, seat of the government of the Roman Republic.

Capitol may sometimes intend the homonym "capital," the city or town which houses the government and thus the capitol building.
