LinkRural patients' colon and lung cancers diagnosed earlier, Dartmouth research says
DescriptionA new study by Dartmouth researchers suggests that urban patients with colorectal and lung cancer are more likely than their rural counterparts to "present at a late stage" -- i.e. to not be seen by a doctor until their cancers are advanced and less treatable. This effect was seen even when the study controlled for other factors associated with late-stage presentation, such as age, race, gender, marital status, income level, and level of education.
