Image :: Bioassay measurements on a skull

This one's really funny! The site that I found this picture on says "The direct in vivo bioassay data can then be used to confirm assumptions used to evaluate dose from the in vitro (indirect) bioassay measurements. Combining the in vivo and in vitro bioassay data with post-mortem tissue analysis will provide data in developing improved dosimetric models for transuranium radionuclide models."

Image :: What are antibodies?

This diagram illustrates nicely. Every living cell has different protein markers on its surface called antigens, and the body's immune system identifies those cells that are not part of its structure by those surface proteins. This one's from www.nlm.nih.gov
